Research Use Only, commonly written as RUO, is the designation we apply to every peptide reference material in our catalog. It is more than a phrase printed on a label. It defines the entire scope of how a compound is intended to be handled, stored, and studied — strictly within a laboratory or other controlled research setting, and by qualified researchers working toward a scientific question.
Every peptide we make available exists to support in vitro and non-clinical investigation: work exploring receptor binding, structure–activity relationships, cellular signaling pathways, analytical method development, and the broader biochemical questions that depend on access to well-characterized reference standards. Our role is to provide those standards, not to determine what a researcher does with them.

What Is Research Use Only?

The RUO designation describes intended use rather than quality or strength. A compound can be synthesized to a very high standard of purity and still remain, by design and by label, restricted to the bench. That distinction is why our documentation for each product centers on chemistry — molecular weight, sequence, solubility, storage conditions — rather than on dosing, administration, or expected effects in a living organism. We leave those questions entirely outside the scope of what we provide.
